Floor Plans

So what is our new house going to look like?

This page is the 2D answer (house plans) and needless to say, I am looking forward to having the 3D version to show :)

I will begin with what it MAY look like...  Artist interpretation and all....
Sketch of our new House:
----------------------------------
Our modest budget meant no huge stone walls / differing textures / amazing architectural elements, so we tried to add interest with some different colours.
The Weatherboard sections are in Bristol Cafe Grey
and the Custom Orb Infills are in Woodland Grey
The render is in Thorndon Cream, which will also match the roof colourbond colour.
The garage door, front door and the horizontal timber slats above the portico are all stained (timber look) to match. I hope to have more of the warm wood colour throughout the house.
Anyway as this is the Floor Plan Page - I will add more information and colour swatches on the Colours / Design Page. So check it out if you like to read more about this part of the build.

For an idea of how the house fits on the block of land here is the Site Plan...
It proved to be quite a task to fit our desired house size on the bock as most project homes were wider frontage than our block allowed (and we couldn't build 10 meters from the back fence due to fire safety restrictions).  But our builder, PJ Burns, definitely came through for us :)

  1. A good home doesn’t always have to have a fancy façade with differing textures or additional features like a swimming pool or bedroom balconies. As long as it looks beautiful to the people who will be living in it, the house will surely become a home.

  2. It is sensible to have a floor-plan so the designing goes easily and looks excellent in the end. There are so many methods to look for for the best home floor plans for your needs it can be frustrating.

    1. Yes, our method was actually to have many many sketches of possible floor layouts that we made ourselves... so that we had played around a lot even before we spoke with builders...

  3. Thanks a lot for sharing the building plans for your home! I’m sure they’ll serve as inspiration for others looking to build their own dream house. I have so much respect for the building process; so much work goes into every part of it. Every little detail has to be taken into account. Even the slightest error in measurement can be seen in the plans, which can be a problem during construction. And, everyone involved in the construction progress has to be on the ball all the time to produce the best quality of work possible.
